Well, I did it, and I'm so bloody PROUD of myself. I made all 50,000 words, every single one of them and I feel fantastic. With the text I had written before NaNoWriMo I now have 70,000 words of my novel.
The only thing that got me through was a really detailed chapter summary. I always knew where I was going, so I didn't have to sit around and think, I could just write. Sometimes it was slow, painfully slow. Sometimes it was fast, surprisingly so, especially when I was writing the exciting bits.
That's not the end of it either. I still have some research to do to support it and fatten it out (NaNoWriMo was not the time) and some journal entries to insert from one of my characters, but I'll write those later.
The next job I plan to do over the next week or so is to do a very fast spell and grammar check, but no rewrites. Then I plan to print the whole thing out and leave it on a bookshelf for a month or two, (al-la Andrea of A Cat of Impossible Colours) then read it through and start to fix up what is a very rough draft.
I'm glad I finished early as well, as my computer completely cacked itself. In the end it had to be rebuilt from scratch, but I did have backups of everything and we own all the software, so nothing was lost except time. I suspect it is a hardware/overheating problem combined with some weird software issue, so the problem may be back later. I hope not though.
I'd like to say thank you to Andrea for chivving me (and her other readers) into this fantasic journey. I've had so much fun, I've come so far, and I'm not stopping now. I plan to finish this book, all the way to the very end, and be back in time for next November.

Writing forward

Would love to see your book published ;)
Heya Bucca, it's totally worth while continuing. I'm just researching at the moment, but I'm sooooo looking forward to editing the manuscript.
Oooh, I just said manuscript. I just got a shiver up my spine ^_^
