I want a signature jacket and I need your help

My birthday is coming soon, and I've decided that according to tradition (started last year) I need a fabulous piece of fashion to grace my wardrobe.

This year I have decided that I need a jacket (having enough shoes and bags), but not just any jacket. It needs to be:

  • Spring/Summer weight (I already have enough nice winter jackets)
  • Not black, or not just black (I already have enough nice black jackets)
  • Not a colour I wouldn't wear (so not pink, or blue or green or ...)
  • Probably not grey or brown (because I couldn't wear it with all my outfits, though I'd settle for one of these colours)
  • Preferably with a pattern or embroidery
  • In an easy to take care of material (no satin or silk)

  • Cropped swing with ¾ length sleeves, because that suits me

So, in summary, it needs to be a swing jacket, patterned or embroidered, black and red, black and white, or red or purple (maybe), I'm not being picky am I? Oh, and it needs to fit a 44 inch bust.

Really, I want a jacket like this (though I'd prefer anothoer pattern other than check). Image care of Life's Vintage Christian Dior Gallery.

Actually, now that I think about it, I've written about this jacket on here before. This is pretty much what I'm after, or something like it.

Now I do sew, and 2 years ago I would have made this for myself. Since then, Miss Icy has arrived and I haven't sewn a thing (not even for her) in the last six months.

Can anyone help?

Send me your eBay links, your international shipping stores, your Esty shops. Send me your advice on shopping for vintage (which I haven't done before). Send me the name of your tailor or your friend who runs a design company on the side. I'll consider them all.

Oh I don't know a lot about fashion so I'm sorry I can't help. I don't even wear jackets that often... fab idea though!

I have just finished a pattern drafting course and would be happy to have a bash at making a pattern for you, but you wouldn't want to be in a rush because this month I have to sew the final four garments four the assessment and oh, I've just had a litter of puppies. Let me know if you have no other offers/suggestions and I can give it a back some time (may not be this year thought!)
P.S. I love that jacket too!
