Many years ago I wrote a post on wearing dresses over pants and how can it be done. I respectfully disagreed with The Fug Girls and insisted it could, but that you had to keep the following rules in mind.
- The length of the dress was all important (well above the knees)
- The colours needed to tone together
- The pants needed to be bootlegged, in order to pull of the proportions properly
Without these elements, the look is bound to fail.
Well, I'd like to add another example for you to consider – the long dress. In the first image I'm wearing a wrap dress that in itself is lovely; on me, it's OK, but it doesn't really pop, it's just average.
In the second image I'm wearing my asstastic pants underneath, and suddenly the look goes from blah to ah.
So if you've got a longer dress that doesn't really do it for you, try it over a pair of pants and see how you go.
Oh, and it's my birthday, and I'm 34 today. Happy birthday to me ^_^
