My latest shoe acquisition – Kinky from Kumfs

As I’m sure you know, I love a good shoe. Many of the posts on this site have been about shoes of all sorts, mine and other peoples. At least once a year I lash out and buy a pair I really want; sometimes expensive and sometimes not. Sometimes I pay more for postage than I do for the shoe.

I received my catalogue from Kumfs Australia in the mail. Even though it’s a New Zealand company, they have lots of retail outfits in Australia (and apparently two in Hong Kong and one in the US). I always like to receive the catalogue, even though I don’t purchase regularly (they are beautiful but expensive shoes). So I flipped through it, admiring the rather good range of shoes for winter, when a truly beautiful pair caught my eye.

They were brown ankle boots, patent and suede with a lovely Louie heel, laced up the front rather like a Victorian style shoe. Oh, I fell in love.

I had a similar cheap and nasty pair I’d bought a few years ago, mainly because I thought I’d never find the real thing, but the vinyl is going around the toes, and they aren’t that comfortable.

So, I spent the next week convincing the other half that I needed to stimulate the economy by buying a rather expensive pair of shoes (about 3 times what I’d normally spend). Eventually he was brow-beaten into submission agreed.

I was off to the Kumfs store in a flash. Luckily there is one just 15 minutes away at the local shopping centre. I had to go there for another appointment anyway; I was saving petrol. They didn’t have the brown ones in my size, boo hoo, but I tried the black ones on for fit. The size was perfect, but they didn’t have the same sort of “pop” as the brown. Luckily they were able to order a pair in from another store, so I went home, mildly disappointed, but hopeful that any day now my new shoes would arrive.

Three days later, I got the call. I literally dropped everything (except the baby), bundled her and myself into the car and we were off. I had to delay the pleasure of trying them on in the store; I had Chic Baby in a sling, which is not conducive to changing footwear. But the minute we were home again, I had them on.

Kinky from Kumfs @ Individual ChicOooh, soooo comfortable. Lots of places make comfortable flats that are good for your feet, but Kumfs is the only place I know that make comfortable heels. They are lined in soft leather and the insoles are pure bliss. They can even be replaced with orthotics if you need them. The next day I wore them to work, walked for at least an hour and a half in them, and my feet felt fine. I had a few blisters on the soles of my feet of course, but I’ve never had a pair of shoes (ever) that I didn’t get blisters from.

So, in summary, if you’re looking for a pair of truly comfortable heels, that you can stand and walk in for at least an hour and a half, even if you’re feet are a bit funny like mine, try Kumfs.
