L’Oreal Infallible 16 Hours Lipstick Compact

I wear makeup; work day’s I pack a full face, but it’s never been high up there on my radar as part of my shopping ritual. I find what works for me and then I stick with it. I haven’t looked at a new foundation/cover/eye shadow/eye liner/lipstick in years (I’m still on the search for mascara I’m truly happy with though. In fact, my most important criteria about a lipstick are, and this is weird I know, “do I have to twist the lipstick to make it appear, or can I just take the top off”, followed closely by “is the tube long and skinny and so will fit in my bag of tricks easily”. If these two don’t get a “yes” I don’t even consider it. As such, my current lipstick is a nice warm plumy colour which suits me well, cost $10 of a no-name brand, and answers yes to both those questions. That is, it was my lipstick up until now.

It’s rare for me, but I felt the need the other day to buy a new lipstick. I wanted a red one. I haven’t had a red lipstick in years, but it’s the colour of the season (again) and I thought it was time. I also succumbed to the “I want to buy myself something nice” urge (which happens fairly often, but is usually sated by chocolate). So I ripped into a local purveyor of beauty products and had a look at the range.

As mentioned above, I was only looking at the criteria above, and well it does restrict it a bit. Lip glosses fit the bill quite nicely, but I’m not a glossy girl, I like more of a matt look. So the thing that drew my eye was the nice small lipstick tube for the L’Oreal testers. They were small, a just remove the lid job, and they had a red that looked like it would be perfect on me. It was only when I removed a real one, that I realised it was a two-parter, one for the colour and one for the sealant. But the case was still small and I thought “what the hell”. It was only when I got it home that I realised how clever the product was.

The lipsticks are attached to the silver body of the case. Yep, pretty cool. You push it up from the bottom and take the lipstick out to apply, and not only that, they case itself is designed as a mirror, so I don’t have to carry a separate one. How cool is that! And when they said 16 hours, they weren’t kidding; I woke up with red lips the next morning.

All-in-all, I was very happy with my new purchase. I love the cleverness of it, the look of it, the fact I don’t have to twist the lipstick to get it out, and even the colour for that matter. Very pleased.

This is an unpaid review and I bought the product with my own money.

Louise, it's not being weak; it's making a smart investment in your lips future. It really is the cleverest design, and it does seem to stay on for quite a long time. You go girl!
