Randwick Spring Racing carnival cancelled, Sydney Fashionista’s devastated

OK, it’s actually a serious problem. Equine Influenza (that would be the flu for horses) has made it through our strict quarantine and into Australia. This has had a serious impact on Australia’s racing industry, to the tune of many millions of dollars, not to mention worrying anyone who owns a horse.

But no-one has addressed the real issue at stake, what are Sydney Fashionista’s going to do without the Spring Racing Carnival, it’s just been cancelled! Every year the pretty girls and boys get dressed up in their spiffiest duds and swishiest hats and prance off to the races and the Fashions on the Field competitions. Sometimes they even watch the horses.

Not all is lost though, the Melbourne Cup, THE major racing/fashion event in Australia is still going ahead. Shame the horses from Sydney won’t be joining them.

I totally thought the exact same thing when I heard of the spring racing being cancelled.
Hey, at least the department stores might drop the prices of their designer spring dreses =)

Actuall, I've now heard a report that the Fashions on the Field are still going ahead so the winners can compete in Melborne.
