The swing jacket is a big trend this winter in Australia but if you really want to be fashion-forward try a short cape. You’re looking for one that has a similar silhouette to a swing jacket, hitting the body above the hips. A strong collar and buttons down the front prevent it from looking too Robin Hoodish. Vents at the side for your arms are also a good idea.
I’ve only ever seen one of these for sale, so if you like this look vintage or making it yourself may be the way to go but you’ll be guaranteed to have that individual look that people will notice.

I like the idea of the cape, reminds me of a beautiful one I had when I was younger. I'm not sure I like the colours on that checked one, but at least they're more timeless and less of a fad.
I'm not big on the colours either, but it was the only picture I could find (well, after 15 minutes of searching) ^_^.
