I have these things I’m on the hunt for. If you know where I can get them in Sydney, let me know.
- A perfect pair of black pants. I have the perfect pair now, but they’re getting a little on the scruffy side so I’m looking for the perfect replacement. If I find them, I promise myself I’m buying two pairs. If I can’t find them, I’m going to have the current pair cut up and made into a pattern, so I can have new pants from them.
- Skinny jeans. No I don’t have any yet, but I think I want a pair, and yes, I know this trend might be over.
- A red pair of tall boots with low heels. I’ve seen several women wearing red boots and they look great. They really stand out amongst the crowd of black and brown and I think it signals a big trend for winter. I have two problems with tall boots that will make this a rather tricky search. They need to be reasonably flat as I need to be able to walk for at least 30 minutes in them, and they need to fit over my chunky calves (more of a problem).
- A singlet the same colour as my new shoes. I want the colour to tie in from the shoes to a singlet under a dress or a shirt. I already have a shirt that colour and it works really well.
- Long gloves. Another big trend for winter with all of the swing jackets. I’ve only seen one pair so far, but at $129 from Country Road, I think I’ll wait.
- A black shirtdress. It’ll be big, I can see it coming. I need one with a low waist with volume below the hips and finishing on the knee. I’m not picky at all.
- A winter swing jacket. This one is only a maybe and only if I can find a great price.
- A creamy white jacket. I tried on the most perfect jacket from Diesel at a factory outlet, but it was too small. As such I am now on the search for a creamy white jacket hitting the top of the hips, large stiff collar, probably double breasted, and very fitted at the back. I must have that jacket.

Good luck with your shopping!!! I'd reccommend a cheapish pair of skinny leg jeans (i always buy cheap the first time i am trying a new trend) and look for slouch boots...as they are loose around the calf.
=)
Thanks Karina. I'm thinking I'll try Target for the jeans, they'll probably have my size.
I have black slouch boots and they are nice, but I do prefer the smooth leather. It might depend on what I can find.
I think we are going to see skinnies around for awhile yet.
Wonderful list. Just one question: what's a singlet?
Hey Rebecca, a singlet is a sleaveless t-shirt that you wear as underwear. You might call it a vest? It's a bit like high heels = pumps and a fringe = bangs. Australians are more likely to use words that come from Britan rather than America. BTW, why do you call them pumps and bangs?
I love this sort of thing! Here are possible cost saving ideas for the first three:
- Black pants - Veronika Mayne's Chatswood Chase store (always have sales racks too)
- Red boots - www.kahlon.com.au (good range) or even Payless, who have a great looking pair (in a suede look) for just $43
- Skinny Jeans - Jeans West High Rise Slim Fit (see www.jeanswest.com.au)
Ohh, thanks Chrissy. I'll check 'em out!
Your shopping list is great! That white jacket sounds really beautiful. Have fun with your shopping!
Thanks Carolina! I went shopping on the weekend, but I didn't find the jacket ;'0. I'll keep looking though, part of the fun is the hunt ^_^
I remember when I was a little kid, having to wear a "vest". Although if I were to wear one now, I don't know what I'd call it. Probably an underwear shirt.
*wan, pathetic smile*
Why we call them pumps and bangs? Who knows? Doesn't sound good, does it? Pumps, though, you probably know, are only the all-the-way-closed-in ones.
The term fringe really works!
Rececca, camisole I think is the word I want in American English (as opposed to the Queen's Aussie Mates English I speak).
Camisole in Australia has connotations of something your Grandma might wear with a petticoat, usually beige with lace.
David Lawrence have a black shirtdress worth looking at on their website.
Hey Chrissie, Would you believe I tried on a black shirt dress at the DL outlet store at Birken Head point and it was perfect, except for the fact they only had one size, and it was just a bit too small. I can't tell if the one on the website is the same, but I think I'll try and find out!
