Individual Chic: Sheer and white equals a big no no

Sheer and white equals a big no no

Sheer can be pretty, I don’t mind sheer. A black sheer top with a lacy camisole underneath can be very elegant but I'll never forget the first time I saw sheer white...in pants.

I was walking up the hill, back in my university days (UNSW) on a beautiful golden autumn afternoon when I saw a woman walking up the hill ahead of me. The lovely light perfectly illuminated her white top, white pants, and the fact she was only wearing a white g-string under her white pants. I’ll let you reflect on that image for a moment.

...

OK, we’re back. Are you scared yet?

Follow these rules if you’re wearing white.

  • Make sure you white pants are heavy enough not to show your white underwear as well (white jeans are good for this)
  • Or wear nude underwear (and not a g-string)
  • Or get your pants lined
  • And finally, always look at your butt in a mirror in good light before you go out. The phrase is not “does my butt look big in this” but “does my butt look exposed to the world in this”

It frustrates me to no end that clothing designers still use such thin materials when it comes to most white pants. Come to think of it, the material of most dressy pants is too thin. Why should we women even have to worry about panty lines when men's dress pants are thick enough to hide their underwear lines and more?

I know it's weird. Usually women's pants are cheaper, but even if their not the fabric is usually still crappy. There just isn't much choice unfortunately.
