Nice shoes, no good for travelling

I bought these boots from Payless a last year for AU$50 or so, not a bad price. They look nice, are reasonably comfortable, and I can really work the Victorian look of them. But you know what? They just ain't no good for travelling.

Not travelling boots @ Individual ChicI foolishly decided to wear them to the airport, where they have metal detectors. That’s a lot of metal on those shoes; you can see it shining down the front. I’m not sure how I missed it.

Of course the scanner went off, and of course I had to sit down and take them off and walk through the scanner in my stripy (and thankfully hole less) socks, and of course I had to sit down and put them back on again, and of course I had to do all this again on the way back (as I hadn't taken extra shoes).

Not doing that again.

Fortunately my travel boots have a zipper. Unfortunately, I forgot that my hairdini I was using to make a bun is made of metal. I was scared that I'd have to take it out because my hair comes out horribly frizzy. Instead, the security lady just gave me a pat-down. It was still very embarrassing, though.

Hey Meg, I travel every few weeks, I can't believe I was silly enough to wear those shoes. I just looked at how they went with what I was wearing and left it at that. Soooo silly.

I'm sorry, Icy, but if it weren't for the awful inconvenience for you, that would be hilarious!

(We don't travel much, but we have a number of funny airport security stories.)

My travel shoes: Nine West dark red wedge clogs. Free for working at a fund-raising garage sale. :)

Rebecca, dark red wedges, love it.

Dexie, never again! ^_^

Well, maybe not completely silly. I wear my boots when traveling because they are my heaviest shoes. By wearing them and packing the lighter shoes I can pack a few more things in my suitcase without going over the weight limit.

And, you never know who'll you meet on the place or in the airport. It can be a great place for networking, and therefore a great place to show off your personal style. Of course, there is still the problem of those darn security checkpoints.

O.k., now I'm giggling over my typo. LOL.

"And, you never know *who'll you* meet on the place or in the airport."

I so need to start proof-reading.

Poor you, I have had the same issue with my walking boots. Interestingly, they didn't go off at Brisbane airport, so it seems like that the one to try bring naughty stuff in through!

Meg, personal style is the thing I was thinking about, next time practical issues will have to grace my grey matter as well!

Louise, I'm off to Brisvegas in a few weeks, maybe I'll try out those shoes on the way home. Ms Corby certainly had no problem getting naughty things through there.
